Seacliff Hockey Club U21 Academy

The Seacliff Hockey Club is passionate about continual development of our players and encouraging growth in our sport more generally. To this end, we are launching the first ‘SHC U21 Academy’ to support our youth players and help them transition into senior hockey. We have identified a number of emerging talented athletes in our junior and senior teams and we invite them to trial for the SHC U21 ACADEMY. Athletes have been emailed an invitation.

The Academy will run through the off-season from October to December 2022 with aim of building player fitness, skill, decision-making and game understanding to prepare for senior pathways in 2023 and beyond. As a club, we recognise that this is a particularly difficult transition from juniors to seniors considering the strengths of our current PL and M1 senior squads. We want to support the selected group by developing their confidence and skills to perform at higher levels. We also want to support the high-performing athletes to prepare for other teams along the pathway so we can continually have strong representations in zone, state, and national squads.

Whilst this SHC Academy U21 program plans to run throughout the off season, we have potential for the squad to continue training and games throughout various stages of 2023.

Athletes will be selected on performance, attitude, coachability and potential to improve. We will be looking to select between 14 and 24 athletes in both the women’s and men’s squads to have high quality training and practice matches. These trials will be for selected athletes ONLY. If you are not on the list but would like to be considered, please contact Todd Kitto at development@shc.org.au

Trials and trainings will all be on Monday nights during the school term 4, however we have potential to look at practice matches on other nights of the week. Cost for selected athletes will be $50 per player.

  • Trial 1 – 17 October 2022, 6 – 8 pm
  • Trial 2 – 24 October 2022, 6 – 8 pm
