Overview
At Seacliff, our philosophy is that we want teach our players the fundamentals of hockey, and first and foremost have “fun”. We encourage new players from any age to come out and have a go.
This year we are aiming to field 8 teams from U11 to U18 and run an internal U9 competition catering to all levels of interest and ability.
U9’s Mixed
The U9 competition (5-8yo) will be held as an internal program, with the emphasis will be on learning the game and having fun. The format will be to have a small group training session – focusing on core skills, followed by modified games to encourage skills development.
The sessions will all be held at Seacliff Hockey Club 8.30 to 10am on Sunday Mornings – from term 2.
Some features are
- Progressive skills development each week – focusing on the basics
- A special, lighter than normal, hockey ball is used
- Coaches should not have more than 15 participants in their groups
- Only one person is allowed to tackle another at one time and no hitting
U11’s Mixed
We are hoping to field two teams this year. The U11’s is a mixed competition and will be part of the Hockey SA completion. Again our focus is to play in fun atmosphere and for the kids to learn how to play hockey safely and to their level.
Games are on Sunday Mornings at 10am or 11:15am
U13’s Girls and Boys
Seacliff will have one U13 girls and one U13’s team. the teams train during the week and play on Sundays at 10am or 11:15am
U15’s and U18’s Girls and Boys
Seacliff will have one each of U15’s and U18’s in both Girls and boys. U15’s and U18’s train during the week and play on Friday nights.
